Il Grand Wintersberg si trova a circa quattro chilometri a nord-ovest di Niederbronn-les-Bains. Il massiccio montuoso separa le valli del Falkensteinerbach e dello Schwarzbach. Sulla sua cima, composta da arenaria multicolore, si erge una torre di osservazione alta 25 metri, che offre ai escursionisti una vista panoramica eccezionale sulle Voges nordiche, sulla Foresta della Patria e sulla pianura dell'Alto Reno fino alla Foresta Nera. In condizioni di buona visibilità, sono riconoscibili due cime alpine svizzere, il Mönch e l'Altels.
