Scoperta nel 1905 dallo scienziato e biospeleologo Armand VIRÉ. La grotta è aperta ai visitatori dal 1906.
Dal 1961 vi si accede con un trenino elettrico. Questo sale per 400 metri nel sottosuolo per portarvi nel cuore della collina.
La visita si svolge a piedi con una guida. Fin dall'inizio, nella Sala del Caos, scoprirete il meraviglioso mondo del centro della Terra. Nell'arco di un'ora e un quarto si susseguono oltre 150 milioni di anni di storia, cristalli, mondi fiabeschi e animali leggendari. La visita si conclude nella Sala delle Meraviglie, 2.000 metri quadrati di luce nera dove concrezioni fosforescenti riempiono il silenzio.
