Costruita secondo i piani dell'architetto Desgranges e consacrata nel 1868 dal vescovo di Metz, Mons. Dupont des Loges. Si tratta di un edificio in stile "neogotico" a croce latina che ha sostituito le precedenti chiese di San Sebastiano e San Remi. La prima, nota come cappella "castrale", situata ai piedi dello Schlossberg, ha dato il nome all'antica Forbach, il Kappelberg. L'antica cappella di San Remi si trovava nella città bassa, vicino all'attuale cappella di Nostra Signora del Perpetuo Soccorso.
