Construido según los planos del arquitecto Desgranges y consagrado en 1868 por el obispo de Metz, Mons. Dupont des Loges. Se trata de un edificio de estilo "neogótico" en forma de cruz latina que sustituyó a las antiguas iglesias de San Sebastián y San Remo. La primera, conocida como la capilla "castral", situada al pie del Schlossberg, dio su nombre al antiguo Forbach, el Kappelberg. La antigua capilla de San Remi estaba situada en la parte baja de la ciudad, cerca de la actual capilla de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro.
