Gli abitanti della zona, soprattutto quelli di Pardaillan, venivano a lavare i loro panni al lavatoio. È stata utilizzata fino al XX secolo, poiché l'acqua corrente è arrivata a Latresne solo negli anni Cinquanta
Il Lavoir era un luogo eminentemente sociale in ogni villaggio. Era il luogo in cui le donne si incontravano una volta alla settimana o più e dove si scambiavano tutte le ultime notizie dal villaggio e persino dalla regione.
