Ospitato nell'ex convento degli Urbanistes, questo museo ripercorre lo sviluppo di Lilla dall'anno 1000 al 1835. Presenta una collezione di tremila oggetti, alcuni dei quali sono legati alla Confrérie de Sainte-Barbe (Confraternita di Santa Barbara), i cui membri giurarono nel 1483 di difendere la città e si addestravano regolarmente a questo scopo. Anche se la confraternita fu sciolta, i cannonieri si dimostrarono particolarmente valorosi durante l'assedio austriaco del 1792. In riconoscimento di questa resistenza, Napoleone Bonaparte regalò loro due cannoni Gribeauval, tuttora esposti nel museo. Tra gli altri oggetti esposti vi sono mappe del XVI secolo della Contea delle Fiandre, fucili dal 1777 al 1945 e armi da taglio.
