Il sito di Prés Salés Ouest, situato nel comune di La Teste de Buch, è un'insenatura di 42 ettari nel sud della baia di Arcachon. Un tempo aperto al mare, il Prés Salés Ouest è stato arginato a metà degli anni '70 e sottratto all'influenza dell'oceano. Per quasi 35 anni, il sito ha perso la sua vocazione di prato salato, si è progressivamente impoverito ed è stato invaso da specie esotiche invasive (in particolare Baccharis, noto anche come "falso cotone"). Tuttavia, nel 2007, dopo anni di battaglie legali, il comune di La Teste de Buch è stato autorizzato dallo Stato a intraprendere lavori di sviluppo. L'opera aveva diversi obiettivi: ambientale, paesaggistico, idraulico e di accesso al pubblico. Una parte del sito è stata nuovamente sottoposta al ritmo delle maree, mentre l'altra è stata dedicata alla ritenzione dell'acqua dolce del Craste.
