Il sito delle ex cave di caolino di Marcognac è stato classificato come Monumento Storico di Archeologia Industriale nel 2002. È l'unica cava in Francia in cui sono ancora presenti edifici risalenti al XIX secolo (abitazioni, capannoni per l'essiccazione, fucina, stalle, forno per il pane, ecc. Il sito è stato acquistato dal comune di Saint Yrieix-la-Perche nel 1993 e rilevato dalla Communauté de Communes nel 2000. Nel 2010 è stata creata l'associazione Marcognac Terre de Porcelaine per salvare questo sito abbandonato e dargli nuova vita. Il percorso di visita è stato gradualmente creato grazie alle donazioni di oggetti e archivi ricevute da varie persone. Gli appassionati membri dell'associazione conducono visite guidate, documentate da testimonianze, immagini e oggetti dell'epoca.
