Contrariamente a quanto si crede, l'edificio non ha nulla a che fare con l'ordine dei Templari, dato che è stato costruito all'inizio del 1600. In seguito ai combattimenti tra le truppe reali francesi e gli eserciti di Carlo V, un atto di Charles de Berlaymont del 1558 dichiara che il villaggio è in rovina. Dopo i combattimenti, il capitano di Hierges fece costruire questa casa fortificata nel villaggio, situata vicino alla chiesa di Saint-Martin. Nel 1640, l'attacco a Charlemont (in mano agli spagnoli) da parte delle truppe del maresciallo de la Meilleraye causò nuovamente distruzioni. La casa fortificata fu restaurata negli anni successivi e la cappella adiacente fu restaurata nel 1671. Dopo la Rivoluzione fu trasformata in una fattoria e chiamata Fattoria dei Templari. L'edificio è classificato come monumento storico.
