Situato nel cuore del Domaine de Montaigu e adiacente al Féru des Sciences, lo Château de Montaigu è una residenza del XVIII secolo, riprogettata nel XIX e XX secolo. Gli ultimi proprietari, Édouard e Suzanne Salin, vi hanno vissuto dal 1920 al 1970.
Con l'aiuto del decoratore Adrien Karbowsky, ne fecero la cornice della loro eccezionale collezione di oggetti d'arte, dipinti, sculture, strumenti musicali e mobili. Edouard Salin ha conservato e valorizzato i suoi reperti archeologici provenienti dagli scavi dei siti merovingi. Questa casa di studiosi, maestri di forgia, archeologi e collezionisti ha ottenuto il marchio "Maisons des illustres".
