La diga di Naussac è stata messa in funzione nel 1983. Con un'altezza di 50 metri, è dotata di una torre di aspirazione che consente di convogliare l'acqua all'impianto di pompaggio-turbina, entrato in funzione nel 1997, e di una valvola a getto cavo.
La funzione della diga di Naussac è quella di mantenere un flusso minimo nei fiumi Allier e Loira durante i periodi di magra, per soddisfare le esigenze della popolazione
