A metà strada tra Saint-Emilion e Sauternes, la città bastide di Sauveterre-de-Guyenne fu fondata nel 1281 dal re d'Inghilterra Edoardo I. Il parcheggio e l'area di servizio sono vicini a un'area picnic, al centro storico e ai negozi (5 minuti a piedi). La città si affaccia sui vigneti ed è il capoluogo del più grande distretto vitivinicolo della regione di Entre-deux-Mers. Qui si producono vini Bordeaux AOC (rosso, bianco, rosé, Clairet), Bordeaux Supérieur, Entre-deux-Mers e Crémant de Bordeaux. Dal punto di vista del patrimonio, la città ha conservato la disposizione ortogonale caratteristica delle bastides, la sua piazza centrale fiancheggiata da portici e i resti delle fortificazioni medievali. È anche possibile visitare una delle torri medievali.
