Fu fondato in seguito al priorato istituito da Sant'Adérald, che riportò un pezzo della tomba di Cristo e vi istituì un priorato dell'ordine di Cluny nell'XI secolo. Chiamato Samblières prima di questo evento, all'arrivo della tomba il villaggio cambiò nome in Saint-Sépulcre. Nel 1673, il villaggio cambiò nome in Villacerf.
Le sue vetrate del XVI secolo sono classificate come monumenti storici, così come una decina di pezzi del suo arredamento. In particolare, la chiesa possiede una pala d'altare e un tabernacolo con al centro un dipinto a olio classificato che raffigura una Vergine con Bambino accompagnata da San Giovanni Battista e Santa Elisabetta, tutti risalenti al XVIII secolo. Sono inoltre elencate diverse sculture in calcare policromato del XVI secolo: una Pietà, una Santa Barbara e un San Giovanni Battista.
