Il busto è opera del cognato di Rimbaud e fu inaugurato nel 1901.
Nel 1914-1918 fu distrutto durante la guerra . Nel 1927 fu sostituito da un busto di Alphonse Colle. Nel 1942-44: fuso sotto il regime di Vichy. Nel 1954: sostituito da un busto di Dumont, basato su quello di Alphonse Colle.
Arthus Rimbaud è stato uno dei più grandi poeti francesi ed è nato a Charleville-Mézières.
