El bust és obra del cunyat de Rimbaud i es va inaugurar l'any 1901.
El 1914-1918 fou destruït durant la guerra . El 1927 va ser substituït per un bust d'Alphonse Colle. El 1942-44: es va fondre sota el règim de Vichy. El 1954: substituït per un bust de Dumont, basat en el d'Alphonse Colle.
Arthus Rimbaud va ser un dels més grans poetes francesos i nascut a Charleville-Mézières.
El "Viatge d'Arthur Rimbaud " us permet descobrir la ciutat de Charleville-Mézières seguint els passos de l'home amb soles de vent.
