Partendo dalla chiesa abbaziale, salirete verso un bel punto di vista sul villaggio costruito intorno all'abbazia di cui i monaci furono gli autori di Cluny. Verso l'890, Gigny fu un'abbazia fondata da Bernon, nobile della Contea di Borgogna. Perdette questo titolo alla fine dell'undicesimo secolo per diventare un semplice priore collegato a Cluny. Essa è composta da parti romaniche e gotiche.
