Polstead è un piccolo villaggio e una parrocchia civile nel distretto di Babergh nel Suffolk, Inghilterra. Il villaggio si trova a 3 miglia a nord-est di Nayland, a 5 miglia a sud-ovest di Hadleigh e a 9 miglia a nord di Colchester. È situato su un piccolo affluente del fiume Stour.
Il villaggio è noto per essere il sito dell'omicidio della Red Barn nel 1827. La vittima Maria Marten, una volta trovata, fu riposizionata nel cimitero della Chiesa di St Mary, ma la sua lapide fu infine distrutta dai cacciatori di souvenir. Solo un cartello su un muro di un capanno marca ora il luogo approssimativo dove si trovava, anche se il suo nome è dato a Marten's Lane che si unisce a Water Lane e Mill Street.
