Il fiume Rib ha origine vicino al villaggio di Therfield nell'Hertfordshire orientale e scorre parallelo all'A10 attraverso Chipping, Wyddial, Buntingford, Westmill, Braughing, Puckeridge e Standon, prima di dividere i villaggi di Thundridge e Wadesmill e continuare fino a raggiungere il suo confluenza con il fiume Lea vicino a Hertford.
Il fiume Rib aveva frequenti inondazioni a causa di forti piogge in autunno, ma questa propensione è stata risolta grazie a lavori di dragaggio e ingegneria negli anni '70.
È stato utilizzato come principale fonte d'acqua a Buntingford e nelle aree circostanti prima che venisse installata una pompa.
