Il Queens' College fu fondato per la prima volta nel 1448 da Margherita d'Angiò, moglie di Enrico VI. Fu rifondato nel 1465 da Elisabetta Woodville, moglie di Edoardo IV. Questo fatto si riflette nell'ortografia del nome popolare: Queens' (delle regine) anziché Queen's (della regina), anche se il nome completo è The Queen's College of St Margaret and St Bernard in the University of Cambridge (Collegio della Regina di Santa Margherita e San Bernardo nell'Università di Cambridge). Viene comunemente chiamato Queens' College.
