L'Abbazia di Sweetheart, conosciuta anche come New Abbey, è un'abbazia cistercense situata nella regione scozzese di Dumfries e Galloway, fondata alla fine del XIII secolo da Lady Devorgilla in memoria del suo defunto marito John Balliol, quinto barone di Balliol.
La casa madre dell'Abbazia di Sweetheart è l'Abbazia di Dundrennan, che si trova a 28 km di distanza. La fondazione dell'abbazia è stata realizzata il 10 aprile 1273 da Devorgilla, Lady di Galloway, in memoria del suo defunto marito John Balliol, quinto barone di Balliol. L'abbazia fu costruita nel luogo in cui il fiume Nirth si riversava nel Solway Firth. Si noti che John Balliol fu anche il fondatore nel 1263 del Balliol College a Oxford.
