Šibenik è una bella città sulla costa adriatica nella Dalmazia centrale. La città è protetta in una baia all'estuario del fiume Krka. Le stradine lastricate e il groviglio di vicoli conferiscono alla città un fascino medievale italiano. A differenza della maggior parte delle città croate, Šibenik non fu fondata dai romani ma dai croati stessi nel 9° secolo, ossia niente strade parallele, solo oblique. I croati non elaborarono un piano come i romani, ma ad ogni incrocio c'è una sorta di piazza, dove gli abitanti si incontrano.
Costruirono la loro città su una collina rocciosa, nel corso dei secoli furono costruite diverse fortificazioni per difendere la città vecchia. Nel 20° secolo la città si concentrò sull'industria, quindi nei dintorni ci sono meno belle immagini.
