I laghi di Plitvice sono stati aggiunti nel 1979 alla lista del patrimonio mondiale delle aree naturali protette dell'UNESCO. I 16 laghi con 90 cascate tra di essi sono stati formati da un processo di sedimentazione naturale dovuto all'acqua corrente in quest'area. Nel parco intorno ai laghi trovano rifugio molti animali rari. Insomma, questo parco merita sicuramente una visita se si è in Croazia!
