The Plitvice Lakes were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List of protected nature areas in 1979. The 16 lakes, along with 90 waterfalls in between, were formed through a natural sedimentation process by the flowing water in this area. In the park surrounding the lakes, many rare animals find their habitat. In short, this park is definitely worth a visit if you are in Croatia!
