La collina alta 267 metri si trova a circa 5 km a NE da Ballybunion. La sua cima ospita alcune antenne di trasmissione e una stazione di triangolazione. La collina è visibile in lontananza e la cima offre una buona vista sull'estuario dello Shannon e su gran parte della costa atlantica del Kerry.
I bog che circondano il Knockanore sono citati nell'Irsic naturalista e sono considerati molto interessanti dal punto di vista dell'entomologo.
