Tricarico è un comune italiano di 4 825 abitanti della provincia di Matera in Basilicata. Posta a 698 m s.l.m., è nota come città arabo-normanna e possiede uno dei centri storici medioevali più importanti e meglio conservati della Basilicata. È sede vescovile.
Il territorio di Tricarico si estende per 17.691 ettari nella parte settentrionale della provincia al confine con la parte nord-orientale della provincia di Potenza, con un'exclave nel territorio di quest'ultima: la frazione di Serra del Ponte, sul monte Toppa Pizzuta.
