La basilica cateriniana di San Domenico è una delle più importanti chiese di Siena e si trova tra il piazzale di San Domenico e via della Sapienza. Eretta nel XIII secolo, fu ingrandita nel secolo successivo. Contiene la testa-reliquia di santa Caterina da Siena, entro una splendida cappella rinascimentale costruita per l'occasione e affrescata dal Sodoma e altri. La chiesa viene anche chiamata basilica cateriniana per il legame con la santa senese e alcuni episodi della sua vita. È monumento nazionale italiano.
