Il santuario francescano della Verna, situato a pochi chilometri da Chiusi della Verna, in provincia di Arezzo e diocesi di Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro, all'interno del parco nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna, è famoso per essere il luogo in cui san Francesco d'Assisi avrebbe ricevuto le stigmate il 14 settembre 1224. Costruito nella parte meridionale del monte Penna a 1128 metri di altezza, il santuario – destinazione di numerosi pellegrini – ospita numerose cappelle e luoghi di preghiera e raccoglimento, oltre a diversi punti di notevole importanza religiosa.
