Grootegast), è stata un'ex municipalità nel nord dei Paesi Bassi, nella Westerkwartier della provincia di Groninga, chiamata come l'omonimo villaggio principale Grootegast. La municipalità aveva una superficie di 88,29 km². Il 31 dicembre 2018 Grootegast contava 12.191 abitanti. La municipalità si è formata nel 1990 attraverso la fusione della precedente municipalità di Oldekerk con Grootegast. Nel 2013 è stato avviato, sulla base del consiglio "Grenzeloos Grunnen" nella provincia di Groninga, un percorso verso una riorganizzazione municipale. In questo progetto è stato proposto di unire i comuni di Grootegast, Leek, Marum e Zuidhorn per formare il comune di Westerkwartier. I comuni si sono fusi il 1° gennaio 2019. A questo proposito è stata inclusa anche una parte del comune di Winsum.
