Nel 1882, la parrocchia di Schijf si staccò da quelle di Rucphen e Klein-Zundert. Come la chiesa madre, anche questa parrocchia era dedicata a San Martino. Nello stesso anno fu completata una chiesa progettata da P.J. Soffers. Grazie a una donazione, fu possibile costruire anche un campanile, che tuttavia nel 1914, durante una tempesta, crollò. Si decise di costruire una nuova torre e di ampliarne la chiesa. Nel 1915 questo lavoro fu completato e nel 1922 fu installato un orologio e una campana sulla torre.
