Im Jahr 1882 trennte sich die Gemeinde von Schijf von derjenigen von Rucphen und Klein-Zundert. Wie die Mutterkirche war auch diese Gemeinde demHeiligen Martin gewidmet. Im selben Jahr wurde ein Kirchlein fertiggestellt, das von P.J. Soffers entworfen worden war. Dank einer Spende konnte auch ein Türmchen gebaut werden, das jedoch 1914 während eines Sturms umblies. Es wurde beschlossen, einen neuen Turm zu bauen und die Kirche gleichzeitig zu vergrößern. 1915 wurde diese Arbeit abgeschlossen, und 1922 wurde noch ein Turmuhrwerk und eine Glocke angebracht.
