L'origine della parrocchia di Echt risale al periodo 400-700, ma il documento scritto più antico in cui si parla di una chiesa risale al 928. In quel momento, i diritti di patronato e il diritto sulle decime della parrocchia furono concessi al capitolo di San Servazio a Maastricht. Questa chiesa era dedicata a Santa Anna e probabilmente anche a San Remigio. Successivamente, San Landrico divenne il secondo santo patrono e dopo il 1722 l'unico. La chiesa era romanica e costruita in pietra di calcare. Nel 1477, la chiesa romanica fu sostituita da un edificio tardo-gotico, mentre il coro fu costruito nel 1400.
