La Gevangenpoort nella città fortificata di Woudrichem è l'unico portale d'acqua rimasto come parte delle strutture difensive. La porta risale al periodo dopo il 1573, l'anno in cui la città bruciò. Fa parte delle mura erette nel 1580. Nel Medioevo Woudrichem aveva una muratura che conteneva 5 porte cittadine. Nell'angolo nord-est si trova una torre angolare sporgente.
Oggi l'edificio è utilizzato come ristorante. Nel XIX secolo, tuttavia, gli spazi all'interno della porta fungevano da prigione.
