Cadzand (in passato Cadesand) è uno dei più antichi insediamenti delle Fiandre Zeelandesi. Si trovava su un'isola vicino allo Zwin ed era circondato da un "kade" (diga). Durante le mareggiate del 1394 e del 1398 (inondazione di Santa Elisabetta), ampie parti dell'"isola di Cadzand" scomparvero nuovamente in mare e furono nuovamente arginate. Cadzand è un villaggio circolare dell'alto medioevo, con le case concentrate attorno alla chiesa (cattolica) in stile gotico primitivo risalente all'inizio del XIV secolo. La chiesa è stata più volte restaurata ed è passata nelle mani protestanti nel XVII secolo. È una "chiesa hall" con due navate, in cui è ancora visibile il passaggio dallo stile romanico al gotico. L'originaria grande torre fu demolita nel 1677 e sostituita da un "croce di legno". Nel 1930 fu costruita l'attuale elegante torre dall'amministrazione comunale di Cadzand.
