Il Vredenburg era un castello del XVI secolo situato nella città di Utrecht. I resti del castello erano ancora visibili nel luogo in cui sorgeva il Centro Musicale Vredenburg. Si trovano, sin dal completamento del Nuovo Alto Catharijne, resti del castello Vredenburg nei seguenti luoghi: nel parcheggio P5 sotto l'Edificio d'Entrata, nel Catharijnesingel sotto la Stadskamer di Alto Catharijne e all'ingresso del parcheggio per biciclette sotto l'edificio Vredenburg. L'attuale piazza Vredenburg prende il nome dalla precedente fortezza.
