Il Porto di Zwaluwse è un residuo di un canale che va dalla conca di Hooge Zwaluwe all'Ammer. L'acqua è lunga circa quattro chilometri.
Il Porto di Zwaluwse è nato durante la piena di Sant'Alessandro del 1421 ed era parte di un'area di canali che presentava somiglianze con l'attuale Biesbosch. Così, Hooge Zwaluwe aveva un piccolo porto che svolgeva un modesto ruolo per il traffico merci e la pesca.
