Il Balij è una giovane foresta tra Zoetermeer, Pijnacker-Nootdorp e Delft che consiste in una foresta naturale, una foresta paludosa, sentieri pedonali e ciclabili e una foresta giochi. Inoltre, si trova una fattoria urbana ai margini del Balij. Insieme alla Bieslandse Bos, il Balij forma un pezzo in crescita costante di 'polmone verde' lungo 15 chilometri tra Zoetermeer e Delft.
