L'isola di Bloemendaal è un'isola relativamente grande e disabitata nel Zaan. Geograficamente, dal riordino municipale della regione Waterland nel 1990, fa parte del comune di Zaanstad. L'isola è raggiungibile solo in barca.
L'isola viene già menzionata su mappe locali da alcune centinaia di anni. Fu acquistata dal comune di Wormerveer nel 1930 per stabilirvi una discarica. È stata utilizzata in questo modo fino al 1970, dopodiché è stata abbandonata e si è selvaticizzata.
