L'ammiraglio Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak (1880-1923) è considerato il padre della Marina Reale Thailandese. Era il 28° figlio del re Rama V e mostrò un precoce interesse e abilità in materia nautica. Trascorse sei anni nel Regno Unito studiando presso l'Accademia Navale Reale. Al suo ritorno in Siam ricoprì un certo numero di posizioni importanti nella Marina Reale Thailandese. È noto per aver modernizzato la marina e per aver creato un corpo ufficiali professionale. Divenne il Comandante della Marina nel 1922. Oltre ai suoi studi navali, il Principe è noto anche come medico erborista, pugile e pittore artistico. Viene ben ricordato in Thailandia.
