La battaglia del Little Bighorn ebbe luogo il 25 giugno 1876 tra una forza combinata di Lakota , Cheyenne e Arapaho e il 7º Cavalleria dell'esercito degli Stati Uniti d'America nei pressi del torrente Little Bighorn, nel territorio orientale del Montana.
Fu il più famoso scontro delle guerre indiane e costituì una schiacciante vittoria per i Lakota e i loro alleati. Delle dodici compagnie del 7º Reggimento di cavalleria US, cinque, comandate dal famoso tenente colonnello George Armstrong Custer, furono completamente annientate. Le altre rimasero assediate per quasi due giorni e subirono perdite sostanziose.
