La locomotiva E.550 era una locomotiva elettrica a corrente alternata trifase a frequenza ferroviaria delle Ferrovie dello Stato italiane.
Fu progettata nell'ambito dell'elettrificazione, decisa già nel 1905 da Riccardo Bianchi, della importantissima linea di valico dei Giovi che collegava Genova con le aree a Nord per il servizio sia merci che viaggiatori.
