Het veer van Baarle was een essentiele link tussen de linker en de rechteroever van de Leie. Er gignen lijkstoeten over, vee, post, dokterserhulp,... Het werd op vele doeken vastgelegd door de schilders van de streek zoals Muarice Sys in 1912.
