Kasteel Ehrenhausen ligt met goed bewaarde verdedigingswerken op een steile helling hoog boven de Mur en het dorp Ehrenhausen in het district Leibnitz in de zuidelijke Steiermark. Niet ver van het kasteel bevindt zich op dezelfde heuvel het mausoleum van Ruprecht van Eggenberg. Het kasteel is een onregelmatige, drie verdiepingen tellende viervleugelbouw rondom een arcadehof met een donjon uit de 12e eeuw. Het kasteel wordt voor het eerst genoemd in 1240 als leengoed van het klooster St. Paul in het Lavanttal. Vanaf ongeveer 1260 waren de heren van Pettau en vanaf 1441 de graven van Schaunberg leenherrens van het klooster.
