Omdat het Kravaalbos nooit intensief is gecultiveerd, is de bodem ongerept. Daarom vind je hier in het voorjaar een rijke flora. Dan vormen bosanemonen en wilde hyacinten kleurrijke tapijten tussen de bomen. Er is ook ridderspoor en dotterbloem.
In natte gebieden groeien zwenkgras, moerasfritillaria en dotterbloem, in magere gebieden bosanemoon en gevlekte aronskelk. Veel dieren komen er wonen, waaronder de zeldzame wespendief, opgestapelde en middelgrote spechten, zwarte spechten en vuursalamanders.
Gemakkelijker te spotten zijn de buizerd, bosuil, boomklever, rode eekhoorn en herten.
