De circa 3 km lange "Wijnmuur" werd vermoedelijk aangelegd of heraangelegd op last van Audoor door boeren uit de omgeving tijdens de wintermaanden met brokken Diestiaan ijzerzandsteen die naar alle waarschijnlijkheid werd gewonnen op de zuidhelling van de berg. Mogelijk gaat het om de heraanleg of restauratie van een muur die reeds van in de late middeleeuwen de wijngaarden op de zuidhelling tegen de koude noordenwind diende te beschutten.
