In juli 1836 legde de beroemde Belgische wiskundige Adolphe Quetelet de Meridiaanlijn in de Sint-Goedelekerk te Brussel vast. Je kan er nog steeds die koperen lijn gaan bekijken. Samen met de lichtvlek gat kan je er zelf nog het middaguur bepalen. Onder het been van Lodewijk II van Hongarije, die afgebeeld wordt in het glasraam is het licht-gat aangebracht. Dit gat werpt een lichtvlek op de koperen lijn op de middag. Je bent er best een of twee uur voor de middag (afhankelijk of het zomeruur of winteruur is), want je zal zien dat het echte middaguur niet overeenkomt met de 12uur op jouw horloge.
