Beringen is een Belgische stad en hoofdplaats van het kanton Beringen. Met 46.558 inwoners vormt deze voormalige mijngemeente, na Hasselt en Genk, de derde grootste gemeente in de provincie Limburg. Het inwoneraantal blijft drie decennia na de mijnsluiting groeien en de stad vormt een industrieel centrum in het westen van Limburg.
