Eind 2016 werd door Toerisme Vlaanderen aangekondigd dat het Ensorhuis één van de vier hefboomprojecten rond het thema 'kernattracties' zou worden. De vier samen konden rekenen op een subsidie van 13 385 305 euro. Toerisme Oostende tenslotte wil met Beleef Ensor in Oostende het Ensorhuis tegen 2018 opwaarderen en herinrichten en ook een belevingscentrum uit de grond stampen naast de woning van de kunstenaar.
