Villers, een klein dorp in Condrusian dat terug te voeren is tot de neolithische periode, kende zijn eerste ontwikkeling in de Romeinse tijd. Inderdaad, het dorp was gelegen nabij de Romeinse weg die Tongeren met Arlon verbond. Het is deze Romeinse invloed die het zijn naam geeft. De toponiem Villers (in feite Vilé) komt van het Latijnse "villare", afgeleid van het woord villa. Het verwijst eerst naar een stuk land dat afhankelijk is van een villa, daarna successief naar een boerderij, een gehucht en een dorp.
