Dit dorp heeft een link met Hergé. Marie-Léonie Dewigne, de moeder van Hergé en zijn tweelingbroer, was kamermeisje geweest van de gravin Errembault de Dudzeele. De tweeling bracht hun hele jeugd door bij hun moeder op het landgoed van de gravin in Chaumont-Gistoux.
Er wordt regelmatig gespeculeerd wie de vader was van de tweeling want die is niet gekend. Omdat Leopold II hier veel over de vloer kwam, wordt de link gelegd als potentiële vader van Hergé. Maar dat is nooit aangetoond.
