In de Sixtusbossen komt zomereik het meeste voor, maar plaatselijk vinden we ook tamme kastanje, gewone es, ruwe berk, zoete kers en lijsterbes. In de struiklaag doen vooral hazelaar, Europese vogelkers, Gelderse roos, vlier en vuilboom het goed. Wie goed zoekt, vindt ook de zeldzame tweestijlige meidoorn, mispel en bosroos. Van de autochtone vuilboom, Gelderse roos en hazelaar worden de zaden geoogst om op te kweken voor in andere bossen.
Verder lopen we langs de speelzone van 2,5 hectare. Hier kan de jeugd naar hartenlust ravotten, weg van de paden.
